Alberta is known around the world for its natural beauty, and a new list ranks two of the province’s small towns among Canada’s most beautiful.
The list, compiled by Conde Nast Traveler, found that two of the 15 spots were taken by locations in the Alberta Rockies.
If you’ve visited the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, it’s probably no surprise that Canmore and Waterton made it.
Canmore
The release touts Canmore as a city that “can serve as a home base while you explore the rolling foothills of the Canadian Rockies and rushing mountain streams.”
It also scored points thanks to its close proximity to Banff National Park and its location just an hour west of Calgary.
We think the cast of HBO’s The Last of Us certainly enjoyed their time in Canmore, so it’s clear that this place ranks as one of Canada’s most charming small towns!
Waterton
Conde Nast Traveler also included Waterton, as visitors had the opportunity to “explore both the lowland prairies and the steep Rocky Mountain peaks,” with plenty of nature to enjoy and the cute village to spend time in.
Other small towns in Canada making the list include Tofino in British Columbia, Dawson City in Yukon, Wellington in Ontario and Lunenburg in Nova Scotia.
