RCMP in Manitoba say a teenager was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a family member on an Air Canada flight, forcing the plane to be diverted.
According to Mounties, around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, RCMP at the Winnipeg Richardson International Airport received a report of a flight diversion to Winnipeg due to an unruly passenger on board who had attacked a passenger.
The investigation determined that Air Canada Flight No. 137 was en route from Toronto to Calgary when a 16-year-old male passenger from Grande Prairie attacked an adult male passenger, identified as a family member.
According to the police, airline employees and passengers were able to hold the teenager after the attack.
The teenage suspect was arrested and taken to hospital for a medical examination. The adult passenger was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
