MELBOURNE, Australia – Canada’s Bianca Andreescu leaves the Australian Open in the second round.

She dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision against Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-Wei at Melbourne Park on Wednesday.

The eighth Canadian fought her 71st opponent from the start and never really came out on the track.

Andreescu from Mississauga, Ontario won three sets in their first competitive game in 15 months on Monday.

She suffered a torn meniscus in her left knee in October 2019 and focused on training instead of returning to the WTA Tour game last year.

Andreescu is one of five Canadians who will be in action on the third day of the Grand Slam tournament.
