The casting of the film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemis 'Children of Blood and Bone' is a dispute for some fans.

The occupation of Tomi Adeyemis Children of Blood and Bone has finally been announced, with the stars Idris Elba and Viola Davis, who led a dream team.

They are accompanied by the Tony Prize winner Cynthia Erivo, the Naacp -Image -Prize winner Damson Idris and So Mbedu, known for their role in Ms. King and Voice -over work in Castlevania: Nocturne, as the main character Zelie.

The author of The Legacy of Orisha Trilogy revealed the full line -up of children of blood and bones in a post on her TikTok account.

The excitement for the casting has flooded social media. Since the publication of Legacy of Orisha: Children of Blood and Bone 2018, fans have excited the next two books in the series and hoped for a film adaptation.

Although the books were written as a fantasy fiction, they are rich in relation to African culture, especially Nigerian culture and Yoruba mythology. Adeyemi intertwined these elements with a well -developed magical system and beautiful black pictures. Many readers see themselves reflected in the text.

So it is no surprise that some social media users and fans of the books have expressed dissatisfaction with the casting. A user expressed concerns about the lack of Nigerian representation. While the casting has not yet been completed for smaller roles, the main roles were largely filled by American and British black actors.

The occupation of children of blood and bones is such a joke

In the truest sense of the word, only one of her actors is Nigerian after expressly looking for an open casting call for the film pic.twitter.com/c0zuo7aryc

Another point of dispute for fans is Amandla Stenberg's casting as Amari. According to an X user, the character is a victim of colorism. Stenberg's lighter complexion does not correspond to these descriptions.

I just think of the young black girls who read children from blood and bones and saw themselves in Amari while they dealt with colorism. What a complete betrayal from author to production. pic.twitter.com/cb61mv4gpp

An X user offered a solution for future Black Fantasy epics: animation that has become an increasingly successful medium for black stories -see Spiderman: In the Miles Morales of Spiderverse.

The casting for children of blood and bones is a perfect example of why I support myself for more fantasy projects to be animated. Black female characters are rarely properly occupied in these projects, and the animation would have avoided all of these problems.

While complaints are included on the Internet, many are simply looking forward to the fact that so much black excellence comes together to create a beautiful black world of magic.

I am so excited, I love black fantasy science fi episans and children from Blood & Bone is exactly what we all need !! Soo Medu, Damson Idris, Tosin Cole and Amandla Stenberg (happy that she received something after Star Wars, the Akolyte)) were all occupied !! 🙌🏾🩷
