Harris received the presidency.
Kamala Harris joined the 56th Naacp Image Awards on February 22nd. The former Vice President spoke to the audience in an inspiring speech when Keke Palmer and other large awards took home.
After receiving the preservation of the chairperson, Harris encouraged the audience not to desperately take over the current state of the world. In her first television appearance since the election, she asked the audience to look back on the history of the NAACP while she started hope and determination.

“This organization was created at a moment when our country had to struggle with greed, bitterness and hatred,” she said. “Those who had forged the NAACP, those who wore their legacy forward had no illusions about the forces against which they competed. No illusions about how rocky the street would be, ”said Harris in the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles.
“But some see this moment and rightly feel the weight of the story,” she said. “Some see the flames on our horizons, the rising water in our cities, the shadows that gather about our democracy, and ask: 'What are we doing now?' But we know exactly what we should do because we have done it before and we will do it again. “
She added: “We organize, mobilize, educate and agree. Our strength never corresponds from a simple way. Our strength flows out of our belief – believe in God, belief in one another and our refusal to result in cynicism and destruction. Not because it is simple, but because it is necessary. Not because the victory is guaranteed, but because the fight is worthwhile. “
She continued: “Although in this chapter in our American history we have no illusions about what we match in this chapter, this chapter is not only written by everyone who occupies the Oval Office, or the richest among us. American history is written by us, written by us, by We The People. “
The Chairman Award should honor those who “honore in public service and use their unique platforms to ignite and make meaningful changes”. Harris continued to talk about the ability of the black community to organize and enter changes for changes, and also binds the power of faith.
She added: “We use our strength; We organize, mobilize, educate ourselves and agree. Because, as you can see, our strength never came from a simple way. Our strength flows out of our belief – believe in God, belief in one another and our refusal to arise from cynicism and destruction. Not because it is simple, but because it is necessary. Not because the victory is guaranteed, but because the fight is worthwhile. “
While Harris was a highlight of the evening, the NAACP also congratulated other black public personalities in their work in several media industries. Keke Palmer won the entertainer of the Year's award home and nodded her candidate and monumental year.
“I didn't think I would win because [starts singing]”Palmer said, before referring to the famous riff, which was sung by Cynthia Erivo's character in” Wicked “.” … It is an amazing category to be with all these people. ”
She added: “It is so important that we come here together and celebrate each other. I've been in this industry for 20 years. Nobody has raised me more than all of you, the people in this room … while we continue to ask for more money because we need it … it is important that we remember what we would have and what we would View important. ”
