Electricity Transformation Canada (ETC) 2024 took place October 21-23 and featured a comprehensive educational program that featured more than 125 speakers covering topics related to the risks and opportunities of the industry, the affordability of renewable energy, growth in… all of Canada and much more focused more.

The three-day conference also featured more than 150 exhibitors showcasing new and innovative technology solutions from vendors, engineers, investors, installers and manufacturers in wind energy, solar energy, energy storage and other clean energy technologies.

“We have now entered the age of electricity where affordability is king – and CanREA members are now building the world’s lowest-cost power generation sources. Complemented by energy storage, wind and solar energy will accelerate our transition to a sustainable energy future,” said Vittoria Bellissimo, President and CEO of CanREA, in her opening remarks on Monday evening.

Her comments reflected the International Energy Agency's new World Energy Outlook released last week, which said clean energy is entering the energy system at an unprecedented pace, including more than 560 GW of new renewable energy capacity being added in 2023, and investments flowing into clean energy projects Electricity consumption is approaching $2 trillion each year, and electricity use has grown twice as fast as total energy demand over the past decade.

“There has never been more investment in new, affordable and clean electricity sources around the world,” emphasized Bellissimo, adding that we must commit to clean energy here in Canada, with a diverse energy strategy that allows us to meet increasing electricity demand .

“In Canada, provinces across the country are actively investing in renewable energy and energy storage, with more than 10,000 MW of pending procurements either underway, procured or planned, representing an investment of well over $20 billion.” , she said.

These procurements are all tracked on the CanREA Clean Energy Procurement Calendar, a central resource for wind, solar and energy storage procurement opportunities across Canada. CanREA released a beta version of this calendar on the third day of ETC, available here: https://renewablesassociation.ca/canreas-clean-energy-procurement-calendar/

As the role of electricity becomes increasingly important in Canada's energy landscape, discussions at ETC are more relevant than ever.

Don't miss it next year when ETC 2025 takes place October 6-8 at the Enercare Center in Toronto, Ontario.
