Toronto police investigating after video shows officers kicking man on TTC subway

Toronto police are on the defensive after a video posted to social media shows five officers arresting a man in a TTC subway car, with at least one of the officers seen helping the man inside the head and into the body.

The brief but violent altercation apparently took place at the Eglinton West subway station last Tuesday.

According to police, the man who was arrested was charged with one count of robbery and three counts of violating probation. However, it is unclear what specifically prompted them to send officers to arrest the person.

In the video, the man is pulled to the ground by officers from his seated position on the subway before being kicked three times by one of the officers.

Just before the video cuts out, one of the officers shouts, “Stop, stop, stop, stop…that's enough.”

Toronto police said its professional standards unit is investigating the incident.
