OMAHA, Neb. – Warren Buffett's annual shopping event, the prelude to it Berkshire Hathaway's annual general meeting delights shareholders flocking here this weekend.
With over 20,000 square feet of exhibition space and more than 50,000 items of inventory, the CHI Health Center exhibit hall features products from various Berkshire holding companies, from Brooks Running to See's Candies to Jazwares.
Only shareholders can attend the event and purchase items at a special discount.
The annual meeting will be broadcast exclusively on CNBC and streamed live on CNBC.com. Special coverage begins Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Jazwares

Jazwares, the American toy maker best known for its Squishmallows plush toy line, was a hit last year when it debuted its wares at the Berkshire Hathaway conference, including the debut of a Warren Buffett plush toy. This year the company expanded its exhibition in the congress hall threefold.

The bookworm only had one book to sell this year: “Poor Charlie's Almanack: The Essential Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger.” This was at Buffett's request in honor of his business partner of more than 60 years, who died in November at the age of 10 99 years old died.

Berkshire acquired pilot training company FlightSafety in 1996. At Friday's purchasing event, the company gave a preview of what its commercial pilot training program looks like. Shareholders lined up to put on virtual reality glasses and experience flight simulation training.

Truckstop giant Pilot Travel Centers had a full-size big red truck on display. The company is the largest travel center operator in North America, with more than 750 locations. Berkshire now fully owns Pilot Travel after acquiring the remaining 20% ownership interest from the Haslam family. The deal was not without drama, as the Haslams sued Berkshire last year in a lawsuit accusing the group of using so-called pushdown accounting without the family's permission.

About 14 miles from the main convention center, there is a separate shareholder-only shopping event at Borsheims jewelry store, owned by Berkshire.
Shareholders browsed unique jewelry, engagement rings and watches available at a discounted price. This 40-carat diamond bracelet from Ruchi New York sold for $110,000 (pictured above, left).

Brooks Running drew a long line of shareholders who snapped up the special 2024 edition of its running shoes with “brk” on the side and a cartoon of a running Buffett on the insoles. Many shareholders will also participate in the Brooks Invest in Yourself 5K Run and Walk on Sunday, the morning after the Annual Meeting.

Warren Buffett bought Dairy Queen in 1998 for about $600 million and took trips to the Omaha locations with his great-grandchildren. According to the Wall Street Journal, the billionaire investor has said in the past that his favorite DQ order is a vanilla soft serve with chocolate syrup and malted milk powder.
