A current study by the influencer marketing platform Heepsy shows that YouTube users forget their passwords as a user of another platform and request the help to restore account. In the study, in which password-related search queries analyzed on 35 main platforms, Youtube showed the highest volume of the password, both in absolute figures and in per capita numbers.

According to the results, YouTube users request an average of more than four times a year new passwords, with amazing searches of 1.4 billion total characteristics to be seen. This corresponds to 35,899 search processes per 100,000 users, which makes it the most problematic platform with regard to the password memory.

Video streaming platforms dominated the top rankings. Facebook followed in second place with 593 million search processes for password recovery or 28,238 per 100,000 users. Pinterest took third place and recorded 83.6 million searches among the 417 million active users or 20,045 search queries per 100,000. The data state that users of content consumption platforms such as YouTube and Pinterest password problems up to 43 times more often than users of communication-oriented platforms in connection with password.

The study by Heepsy used search behavior data based on three common queries: “[Platform] Reset the password ”“ “[Platform] Forget password “and”[Platform] Restore account. “This queries reflect the user intent to regain access to their accounts and were relatively adapted to the active monthly user display of each platform.

“The platform on which people forgot their passwords the most is YouTube and leads with the highest number of password -related search processes,” says the study.

The fourth and fifth places were used by X (formerly Twitter) or Instagram. X users achieved a password reset on average with a total of 77 million queries. In Instagram, only 5,894 password search processes per 100,000 users were carried out with a total of 94.3 million queries-79% less than Facebook, although they have a similar user base.

Spotify took sixth place and generated 4,236 search processes for password recovery per 100,000 users. The users showed a clear pattern with “forgotten password” (14.1 million), which significantly exceed the search processes (59,500).

LinkedIn, Twitch, Line and Discord rounded off the top ten. LinkedIn users registered 2,603 password-related search processes per 100,000, while Twitch followed exactly with 2,288. Line saw only 1,914, and Discord had the lowest search frequency of 1,032 per 100,000 users.

Discord user base showed the fewest signs of password problems, with only 0.1 password reviews per user annually. The focus of the platform on persistent registrations across devices and meetings is likely to contribute to this reduced need for password recovery.

In contrast, the widespread use of YouTube via devices on the top ranking can occur. “YouTube's massive basis of 3.9 billion monthly active users and its cross-device user patterns contribute significantly to its upper position in the frequency of passwords,” the report says.
