Concerns about rising prices have reached their peak. A majority of Democrats, Republicans and Independents said they have changed their grocery store purchases in recent months to stay within budget, according to a CNN poll.
Another 59 percent of Americans said they saved on extras and entertainment.
More than three-quarters of Americans, including 55 percent of Republicans, said President Trump’s policies have increased the cost of living in their community.
Survey after survey has shown that Americans are experiencing growing financial insecurity. Nearly half of all voters gave the economy its lowest rating, “poor,” in the latest New York Times/Siena poll, an increase of 11 percentage points since January.
And economic confidence is at its lowest level in four years, according to Gallup.
According to the AAA Motor Club, gasoline prices have continued to rise nationwide, topping $4.50 a gallon.
According to a Fox News poll, nearly 80 percent of voters – including a majority of Republicans – say the Trump administration is responsible for this price increase. Large majorities also blamed oil companies, the war in Iran and government regulations.
All told, a solid majority of voters in the Fox poll, 57 percent, say Mr. Trump’s policies have hurt the country, compared to 51 percent who said the same a year ago.
