Kerri Einarson’s Manitoba-based team won its fifth straight game at the Women’s World Cup with a 9-6 victory over Italy’s Stefania Constantini.

Canada was alone at the top of the table at 5-0, ahead of Switzerland, Japan and Turkey at 4-1.

Einarson was scheduled to face Switzerland’s Xenia Schwaller in the evening session at the WinSport Event Center in Calgary.

The Canadians took control against the Italians with a four-point tie and led 9-5. Italy shook hands after nine games.

The top six teams at the end of group play on Friday advance to the playoffs. The top two finishers will receive direct entry into the semi-finals on Saturday.

The medal games take place on Sunday.
