The CommBank Matildas will make history by becoming the first football team to play at the new, state-of-the-art Allianz Stadium in Sydney tomorrow night when they host Canada.
The CommBank Matildas are playing their second game in their two-game series against the Olympic champions, looking to recover from a narrow 1-0 defeat in Brisbane on Saturday afternoon.
The Allianz Stadium will set the stage for the second encounter, with the newly opened stadium set to host both sides scheduled for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™.
This two-game streak marks the first time Australia have played Canada on home soil in 14 years when the CommBank Matildas defeated the Canada women’s national team 2nd on May 23, 2008 at the old Sydney Football Stadium, the site of the brand :1 defeated -new Allianz Stadium.
Canada’s Adriana Leon provided the match-winner in the first 11 minutes of the game in Brisbane, in front of a crowd of 25,016 at Suncorp Stadium.

Head coach Tony Gustavsson gave an update on player availability ahead of tomorrow night’s game.
“At practice today we tested some of the players in football, but also afterwards in some high-speed runs and we’ll hear how they reacted tonight,” explained Gustavsson.

“Steph Catley is a question mark, we will decide that tonight. Caitlin Ford did well in practice but we’ll have to see how she reacts to this practice tonight. Tameka Yallop and Cortnee Vine have both been in full training so we’re hoping there are more players available for tomorrow’s game, but I won’t know for sure until tonight.”
Alanna Kennedy will be unavailable for tomorrow night’s game after missing the first game against Canada with a hamstring injury. Scans have been carried out to see the extent of the defender’s injury with hopes of speedy rehab in time for her upcoming WSL season with Manchester City.

Beverly Priestman said after her side’s 1-0 win on Saturday: “I couldn’t be prouder because whatever they were going through, be it travel delays, team injuries and all those things, but when the whistle blew, they went to thing and delivered. That makes me really proud.”
Two players made their international debuts in Canada’s squad, Simi Awujo and Clarissa Larisey coming off the bench in Brisbane.
