Here's everything you need to know about the end of Daylight Saving Time in Ontario

Daylight saving time is ending this weekend in Ontario, and residents need to remember to turn their clocks back one hour at 2:00 am on November 6th.

While we can look forward to an extra hour of sleep (or celebration) because of the change, it also means we wake up to start the day when it’s even darker outside, and also welcome earlier sunsets – key indicators for this winter and its shorter, gray days are at hand.

While Ontario has had a lot of pressure to end the practice like the Yukon, Hawaii, Arizona, most of Saskatchewan and parts of Quebec and BC don’t move their clocks, New York State and all of Quebec would need to be on board , lawmakers have decided which doesn’t look like happening any time soon.

Research shows that getting rid of the 100-plus-year-old custom would have benefits ranging from fewer car accidents, heart attacks, and strokes, along with freedom from the general irritation and disruption of the time change that even big companies have screwed up in the past.

But current bills such as Ontario’s Time Amendment Act – which has received royal assent – propose making daylight saving time permanent, contrary to health experts who argue it is in fact standard time and not daylight saving time, which Rhythm is essential to our circadian state.

However, most people these days are very on board with any new law, which in any case would mean they wouldn’t have to worry about changing clocks or adjusting to a new schedule as even the hour difference tends to be to wreak massive havoc.

Daylight saving time has to be the most absurd concept there is. What’s the point of turning back time by an hour? Aside from the fact that time is an illusion at first, there is no point in changing it. It’s confusing, unnecessary, and inappropriate. MAKE IT STOP.

Unfortunately, until our neighboring jurisdictions move to abandon daylight saving time as well (or make it permanent), we’re still stuck on the change and wondering if each year might be our last to do so.
