On Canada Day, red and white fireworks will light up the sky over the Edmonton River Valley.
The fireworks display begins at 11 p.m. in Kinsmen Park. The best viewing spots are on the grounds of the Alberta Legislature, Queen Elizabeth Park, the River Valley Road Trail and Const. Ezio Faraone Park, at the west entrance of the High Level Bridge at 109th Street North.

Other suitable viewing locations include the sidewalks and east promenade of Walterdale Hill Road, Victoria Park, and 109th Street between Saskatchewan Drive and the High Level Bridge, although these areas are partially blocked off.
Kinsmen Park will not be open for viewing and pedestrian access will not be available after the road closure. The playground, tennis courts and picnic areas at Kinsmen Park will be closed at 6 a.m. on Canada Day.
Watercraft can also head out onto the North Saskatchewan River to view the fireworks. However, a portion of the river north of the launch zone in Kinsmen Park, near the Menzies Bridge and Walterdale Bridge, will be closed for safety reasons. It is recommended to check boat launches before heading out onto the river as closures may occur due to water levels and weather.
Traffic control
There will be road closures and limited park access starting at 6 a.m. on Canada Day. Expect traffic delays two hours before and two hours after the fireworks display.
All Edmonton Transit bus and LRT routes will operate on regular schedules on Sundays, with additional trips during the fireworks display. Capital/Metro Line trains will operate on schedule on Saturdays, with the Capital Line running every 15 minutes until approximately 1 a.m. on July 2. Regular fares apply.

If you need to cross the river, be aware of possible delays and adjust your travel plans accordingly.
There will also be parking restrictions near the river valley, including various streets along 109th Street, 107th Street, 105th Street and River Valley Road, to name a few.

More Canada Day celebrations in Edmonton
There are a number of events throughout Edmonton on Canada Day. Almost all of the city's water playgrounds, outdoor pools, golf courses and recreation centres are open on Canada Day.
The Edmonton Valley Zoo is celebrating its 65th anniversary in conservation with music, magic and other activities for all ages from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be events at the Muttart Conservatory, the John Janzen Nature Centre, the Parliament of Alberta and Re/Max Field.
Also on July 1 is the Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration. The free and inclusive event takes place at Mill Woods Park. 2730 66 pcs. From 2pm to 11pm there will be multicultural performances, dancing, music, fun and fireworks. The fireworks display starts at 11pm.

Ice District Concert and Games
Finally, the Ice District will host free Canada Day celebrations headlined by Canadian country star Tim Hicks and featuring performances by Nice Horse and Taylor Rae from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Fan Park will feature basketball, pickleball and street hockey, as well as snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments, while the Ice District Plaza will feature music, games, bouncy castles, photo booths, face painting, artists, food trucks, non-alcoholic refreshments and adult beverages.
The musical performances will take place on the main stage in the Ice District Plaza starting at 5 p.m.
