Amid India-Canada tensions, study visa success rate above 90% | Chandigarh News

Given the tensions between India and Canada, there is good news for students: the issuance of study visas for the North American country has not stopped. Aspirants who want to study in Canada have a high chance of getting a visa even if they get close to the required score. This is reflected in the success rate for visa applications, which is consistently high and ranges from 85% to an astonishing 95%.

The country’s welcoming immigration policy remains intact, making the path to Canadian dreams a reality for many. The success stories that emerge from these challenging times are a testament to the belief that dreams can come true even when faced with too much adversity. Students with an overall International English Language Testing System IELTS score of six levels, including a modest 5 in one or two modules, even secure a study visa. Even in the PTE exam (Pearson Test of English), where a score of 60 is the benchmark, applicants with a score of 57, 58 and 59 receive Canada visas.

The IELTS and PTE centers in Punjab, particularly in the Doaba region, which is considered the hub of such centers, are achieving student visa success rates of 90-95% even after a standoff between India and Canada emerged. Some centers added that they even saw an 18-19% increase in visa success rate in the last month.

Relations between the two countries became strained after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made allegations about India’s possible involvement in the killing of Canadian citizen and militant Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nevertheless, visa centers have seen an increase in student visa applications, and most of these applications have been processed since the start of the crisis.

Students with a total of six IELTS students, including a modest five in one or two modules, are on their way to achieving their Canadian dreams. Even in the PTE exam, where a score of 60 is the benchmark for visa consideration, applicants with a score of 57, 58 and 59 got the coveted visa stamp, said Sunil Kumar Vashisth, deputy director, Pyramid e-Services in Jalandhar. Add that to the mix and it happens at the most difficult time.

“We have been processing between 250 and 300 student visa applications every month and we did the same last month too. Our success rate in visa issuance is between 90-92% in the last month and most of the applications have been processed after the crisis,” said Sumit Jain of Jain Overseas in Jalandhar, one of the largest IELTS centers and overseas consultancy firms in the state.

“It is a nice gesture on the part of both countries that they have not put any obstacles in the way of the aspirants and that is why the success rate in obtaining visas is so high and even the visas are issued for a period of 12 to 18 years only 20 days,” Jain said, adding that his consultancy recently received 205 visas in a single day which were applied after August 10 and the months of September.

Students Rachel, Jatin Sharma and Harpreet Singh said that they received their visa in just 16 days through Jain Overseas a few days ago.

Jupiterr Academy owner Narpat Babbar added that his consulting firm’s visa success rate is over 90% and it has become better than before.

Success stories

There are also heartwarming stories of students who often faced rejection but didn’t give up. “A determined student faced rejection not once, not twice, but eight times before finally succeeding on the ninth try. It is the unwavering spirit of those who want to study in Canada,” said Sunil Kumar.

“In the first week of this month, we have already received several visas and these were all applied for after September 20 as visa processing is done online and it does not matter whether it takes place in India or Canada. “Since nothing changes in the visa process and the success rate is over 90%, students can also receive visas with 5.5 bands in one module and a total of 6 bands,” he said.

Other visas

It’s not just students or parents of students in Canada who get their visitor visas approved to reunite with their children. But the visas in the tourist, corporate, investor, work permit and spouse work permit (SOWP) categories will be issued at the same rate as before, Gurpreet Singh said, adding that in several cases, students would now also be given visas for study visas, apply immediately for that Spouse visa. In one case, during this conflict between the two countries, the spouse visa was even obtained in just 22 days.

“The Canadian government welcomes people and keeps its immigration policy open because our community is well represented there and we are doing well there,” Sunil said.

What’s even more interesting is that some visa centers have seen a sharp increase in visa approvals in recent weeks, showing that more and more people are getting the chance to pursue their dreams in Canada.

“At the start of the India-Canada standoff, students were little concerned and adhered to the wait-and-see policy before submitting their visa applications for a few days. Things seem difficult,” Jain said, adding that despite the geopolitical complexities There is also no problem with visitor and tourist visas.

Interestingly, certain visa application centers have reported a significant increase in success rates in the last three weeks. Due to more careful filing of cases in such a situation, a notable 18-19% increase in visa approvals has been reported.
