The large transfer of assets refers to the 124 trillion dollars, which will probably be relocated by baby boomers and older generations to their heirs by 2048. This is more than the global GDP of 115 trillion US dollars for 2024.
And an important demographic population benefits the most from the massive transfer of assets: women.
A new report by the Bank of America Institute estimates that almost 100 trillion US dollars will go to women's transmission of 124 trillion dollars, whereby 47 trillion dollars of women in younger generations are relocated as inherited wealth and 54 trillion US dollars, 95% of which are expected.

“Women will soon check more money than ever – and how to use this money is expected to have profound effects,” the study said.
An older study from 2020 2020 by McKinsey showed that American women are predicted by 2030 to control around two thirds of all private wealth in the United States, which represents the largest asset transfer by gender in history.
According to estimates by the Bank of America research, there are 1.4 billion women between 50 and 70 years worldwide. By 2050, the total amount is expected to grow by 47% to 2.1 billion growth. Women in this age group have “more prosperity, independence and opportunities” than women from previous generations.
As a result of the major asset transfer, the Bank of America predicts increased demand and larger expenditure for services, products and experiences that are tailored to women. Internal data collected by the bank showed that women were spent more for discretionary and necessary objects than their male colleagues last year.
Women also represent 85% of Solo travelers, whereby the research of the Bank of America shows that tour operators, cruise lines and travel consultants have reported growing demand from women. The River Cruise Company UNIWOWLD announced a purely female route for August 2025, which joined other cruise lines such as aqua expeditions and celebrity cruises to only offer options for women.
“The great transfer of wealth makes women richer,” wrote the researchers of the Bank of America.
