Good news for those hoping for a Canada Day show.
Kamloops Fire Department Chief Ken Uzeloc has confirmed that he has signed a permit for a professional fireworks shooter who was hired by the City of Kamloops for July 1.
“We looked at their security conditions. We looked at their security plan. So far we have agreed to continue, but given the time available, we always have the option to cancel at short notice.”
Uzeloc says he would revoke their permits if weather conditions became unfavorable.
Fireworks were canceled in Kamloops on Canada Day 2022 due to the intense heat at the time.
Uzeloc says he doesn’t know where the exhibition will be held this year.
The city’s traditional Canada Day fireworks display took place in or near Riverside Park.
