Canadian Wrestling Championships: Canada’s best compete in Ottawa

Some of the country's best wrestlers are in the capital this weekend to compete in the 2024 Canadian Wrestling Championships.

The arena at TD Place showcased world-class men's and women's wrestling, with hundreds of spectators in the stands watching some of Canada's top athletes.

Shauna Kuebeck has been a regular at these events for years. The Brock University student is one of the best in her weight class

“It’s like a game of chess, but much more physical,” Kübeck said.

“You’re physically competing pound for pound with someone who’s trying to do the same thing.”

For 2023 Canadian Championships gold medalist Adam Thompson, this weekend is about honing his skills for future success.

“I'm a person who really likes to win and really hates to lose,” he said.

“Here you can compete with the best people in the district.”

Tickets are available for the final event on March 17, which will feature a Greco-Roman tournament on the mats starting at 9 a.m
