Canadian ski jumper Abigail Strate started 2024 with a World Cup silver medal on Monday.

The 22-year-old Calgarian came second behind Austrian Eva Pinkelnig. Norway's Eirin Maria Kvandal and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger from Austria shared third place at the large hill competition in Oberstdorf, Germany.

Strates' combined 269.4 points over two jumps was 2.7 points behind Pinkelnig. It was her second World Cup medal in three days and the best of her career after she took bronze in Garmisch, Germany, on Saturday.

Strate's teammate and reigning women's normal hill champion, Alexandria Loutitt of Calgary, placed sixth on Monday. In the overall ranking of the World Cup season, Loutitt is fourth and Strate is seventh.
