Shanghai – The tech race between the two largest economies in the world has been increasing.
China published a global Aktion Plan for Artificial Intelligence on Saturday, which demanded international cooperation in relation to technical development and regulation.
The news came when the annual state-organized world art conference in Shanghai began with an opening speech by Premier Li Qiang, which announced that the Chinese government proposed the establishment of a global AI cooperation organization, according to an official reading.
Days earlier, US President Donald Trump announced an American Action Plan for AI, which contained calls to reduce the alleged “awakened” tendency in AI models and support the use of US Tech -Übersee.
“The two camps are now being formed,” said George Chen, partner of the Asia Group and co-chair of digital practice.
“China clearly wants to adhere to the multilateral approach, while the United States wants to build its own warehouse and is very much at the rise of China in the field of AI,” said Chen.
He noticed how China could attract the participants from his belt and street initiative, while the United States will probably have the support of its allies such as Japan and Australia.
In his speech, Premier Li emphasized the China's “Ai Plus” plan for the integration of technology in industries and said that the country was ready to help other nations with technology, especially in the global south. The category relates loosely to less developed economies, especially to countries outside the United States and in European orbits.
Since 2022, the United States has tried to restrict China's access to advanced semiconductors for the training of AI models. At the beginning of this month, US chip maker Nvidia The United States allowed the programs of a less advanced H20 chip to China to resume after a break of about three months.
However, China has developed domestic alternatives that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang referred to as “impressive” as “impressive” during his third trip to China this month.
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt met on Thursday in the city before the AI conference with the party secretary of the Shanghai party, Chen Jining. Schmidt did not immediately answer a CNBC request for comment.
