Cladding Progresses as Cielo Condos Reaches Upper Floors

Cielo Condos’ cladding continues to progress as the 34-story tower nears the final floors of its rise above Bloor Street West in downtown Toronto. Designed by KPMB Architects for Collecdev-Markee Developments, the residential community rises on the northwest corner of Bloor and Huron in The Annex, behind the preserved Gothic Revival stone walls and green-patinated twin towers of Bloor Street United Church. Since ERA Architects is responsible for monument preservation, the project is characterized by the preserved masonry on the ground floor and a modern tower above. UrbanToronto’s last update was in January 2026, when cladding was just beginning.

Looking southwest, Cielo has risen to about 27 stories this month and is now in the final phase of its ascent. The cast-in-place concrete frame consists of two vertical volumes and a recessed central bay window along the north facade, with the panel edges bordered by red security fencing. On the east facade above the preserved church walls, three residential floors and three floors along the north side were clad. Within the recessed interior wall, a white weather barrier extends approximately nine floors.

At the north end of the podium, the structural frame already provides the future connection to the surviving George C. Pidgeon House. Beveled concrete columns along the north facade mark the point where the podium will rise above the subway infrastructure below, allowing the restored Victorian-era house to connect to the new development.

A closer look shows the progress of the façade installation. Window wall glazing is now installed along the north facade behind the projecting balcony panels, paired with gray parapet panels and slats. Prefabricated cladding panels are installed on the left side, extending slightly beyond the dark window wall system to create depth. Angled, lighter-toned sections at the base create a faceted expression.

A few days later we look north over Bloor and see the tower rising behind the church’s surviving neo-Gothic stone walls. Three residential floors were equipped with window wall glazing, gray parapet panels and slats. The projecting balcony slabs remain surrounded by red temporary fences. On the right side, along the north-facing volume of the east facade, a white weatherproof membrane now extends approximately 13 stories upward, signaling preparation for the next phase of cladding installation.

Upon completion, Cielo Condos will have an area of 130.35 m² and will accommodate 349 condominiums.
