Collecdev-Markee's Cielo Condos Reaches Halfway Mark

Cielo Condos is halfway through its 34-story climb and continues its rise behind the preserved stone walls of Bloor Street United Church. Designed by KPMB Architects for Collecdev-Markee Developments with historic preservation oversight from ERA Architects, the tower redefines the northwest corner of Bloor and Huron streets in Toronto's Annex neighborhood. Since UrbanToronto's last update in October 2025, the tower has progressed well beyond the podium into the first twelve residential levels.

Below this month, a northeast view across Bloor Street toward Cielo Condos shows the tower standing 16 stories tall, with formwork and slab decking for the 17th floor. The stepped four-story podium volume projecting north toward Bloor is clearly defined and flows to the taller fifth floor above. Temporary red fencing completed each floor plate, with the tower having two volumes and a recessed section between them. In the foreground, the surviving stone walls of Bloor Street United Church are still supported by a steel support structure in the center of the facade.

Looking northwest, the tower's stepped cantilever can be seen taking shape on the east facade, with the large cantilever extending outward from the seventh floor toward Huron Street. The luffing jib tower crane stands centered above the tower, next to a red concrete boom pump at the east end. In the foreground, the church façade remains secured by a floor-to-ceiling steel support structure along Huron Street.

Viewed from Madison Avenue, the tower's western facade rises behind the advancing steel structure of the Keskus Estonian Cultural Center. The Cielo Condos construction elevator travels to the 12th floor, adjusting to the mechanical risers that have been extended to the same height as part of ongoing maintenance work. Crews are continuing to install mechanical piping through the fourth and intermediate levels of the podium, while the structure of the meeting room and its connection to the preserved church façade have been completed pending an engineering review.

Cielo Condos looks south toward downtown Toronto from the Baldwin Steps on Spadina Road, now asserting itself in the skyline. Its concrete frame, which rises here in front of the CN Tower, is covered with formwork that marks the top level.

Later this month, looking north from Bloor Street West, the tower will have reached 17 floors, with decking and formwork for the 18th floor slab in place. Along the Bloor facade, there are formwork panels on the roof of the podium, waiting for their next use.

Most recently, the tower was advanced to the 19th floor, with the floor slab for that level being poured late last week and the corresponding walls and columns completed to the same height. Crews have begun laying rebar and preparing wall and column pours from the 19th to 20th floors, with the 20th floor ceiling scheduled to be poured today. Meanwhile, installation of prefabricated exterior panels is expected to begin any day.

Once completed, Cielo Condos will have an area of 130.35 m and offer 349 residential suites in the Annex district.
