Racist epithets were also used against the comedian in social media posts.
Comedian Deon Cole did not disappoint, and his jokes and comments about recording artist Nicki Minaj led to death threats and insults directed at the former Black star and Old Spice pitcher, AllHipHop reports.
While hosting the 2026 NAACP Image Awards on March 1, Cole took aim at the Queens rapper, who has been seen at recent MAGA affairs and even become friends with President Donald Trump.
“Lord, we want you to bless our sister Nicki Minaj,” Cole said. “She’s been through a lot lately and hasn’t been herself, sir. I believe that whatever is in her body is affecting her brain, sir.”
Although it received applause from the audience, it was a different story online. It seems the “Barbz” and MAGA enthusiasts weren’t too pleased.
In an Instagram post, Cole collected a series of responses and threats from some of these people and posted them to his account. The comedian posted responses calling him the N-word.
Not all of Cole’s jabs were directed at Minaj and MAGA. Deon Cole commented on the recent British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs) controversy with Tourette Syndrome activist John Davidson shouting the N-word while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented an award on stage. He shed light on the situation that’s been in the news lately, warning that anyone who actually has Tourette’s “better read the room tonight.”
