Final Touches Underway for Theatre District Residence & Riu Plaza Hotel

The Theater District Residence & Riu Plaza Hotel, announced in 2019, has steadily changed the corner of Adelaide and Widmer Street in the entertainment district of Toronto. Six years later, while Condo Suites already occupies, the project is in the last phases, with the conclusion being underway. The 48-story North Tower designed by BDP Quadrangle for Plaza and houses the hotel in the lower half and in the condominium suites on the upper floors. Victorian town houses are also born on their base. The last update of urbantoronto was in December 2023 when the towers came.

The occupancy of the South Tower began around May 2024, followed by the North Tower at the end of June. The Riu Plaza Hotel will not be open until the end of 2025. The town houses are also being worked on.

When we return to one way, we check some of the last efforts in which the external construction hoists were attached to the south tower. Here in February 2024, a mobile crane on the podium level of the southeastern corner with the lifting and placing amber -colored panels embedded with bricks helps. The workers on a scissor lift and on the podium align a body over the Victorian town halls and attach them.

In May 2024 to the southwest of the streets Adelaide and Widmer, the construction high in the east height of the north tower was disassembled, so that a vertical gap in the facade was left in which the climbing is still out of the end. At the bottom, the curtain glazing of the podium fell into the ground floor, with the brick over the Heritage Commodore building to the right. Above the podium, the hotel section of the North Tower with aluminum cladding is continued with punched windows, while the upper condominiums are marked by projected balconies.

In August 2024 at the south -east end of the south tower, a three -story volume with red fire with a long brick pattern over the window openings on the third floor awaits the glazing installation. Before the entrance, a dozen egg-cup form mark the entrance area of the housing rank lobby. On the right an articulated boom lift AIDS building crew that work on the outside of the town houses.

The entrance to the condominium for the north tower is characterized by its address, with the floor area dressing with a brown brick furnier. At the top is the foreign volume of the podium to the outside, with wooden gaps underneath. The improvements of the street landscape include more planters, seating areas and newly planted trees.

Until October 2024, the restoration efforts focus on the town houses of the Victorian period along Widmer Street. Roofs over the doors are rebuilt. The brick facades show curved window openings, converted lorbate windows and shingles in the fish in the area of the guest roof pure as well as restored decorative wood cladding and painted accents.

This month, the street landscape along Widmer Street shows a newly cast concrete strip that extends south, even though it is still surrounded by construction fences. The materials are staged at the north end. On the right we see the refreshing wooden verands with decorative balustrades that are painted in steamed green. Under the northernmost veranda, we can see a wood -based storage housing that has been installed in the design.
