The Ferguson police referred to the incident as a break -in

Ferguson, Missouri, local Storm Burris, was the victim of an incorrect evacuation and left her without things.

Burris, a mother of two children, returned home and found that her apartment was emptied and her belongings were unloaded in garbage bags in front of her door. The incident occurred in the apartment's complex of renovations in Ferguson. Burris and her children only had questions about what went wrong.

Burris had dropped her children at school. She expected to return to a normal afternoon, but was unprepared for what she discovered. Almost all of their possessions were removed from the house. They were placed in garbage bags and scattered over the hallway that led to their unit.

“I came home and everything … it was everywhere,” she said to KSDK. “They pointed to the trash can. When I looked closely, all my babies were all my babies in it and I was shocked.”

Sources say that the confusion occurred during a failed maintenance or evacuation process. The employees of the renewal increase solved the wrong unit, although Burris had paid their rent in full. Proponents of local tenants were outraged. The wrong evacuation is a violation of legal protection, which is made available to the tenants. Many jurisdiction in Missouri require the landlords to make a termination before the disposal of objects that have value.

For Burris, the loss is not just about property. Her life was very molested and created instability for her children. In addition, the family suffered the loss of irreplaceable souvenirs, including pictures of children and souvenirs.

The real estate management offered Burris to give 5,000 US dollars and a month for the rent for free next month. Nevertheless, she believes that the amount is far too low because her apartment contains valuable items.

“My son's bedroom set, two iPads of the new generation, my son and daughter, had cars that they could drive when they could charge them, Pandora jewelry, Kay -Schmuck, a safe, and I had a engagement ring that was $ 2,000,” she said.

Burris has launched a gofundme to replace the objects that she lost.

“I do everything to do and that really withdraw me,” she said. “I think this story has to be heard because it shows how easily families can lose everything without their own debt and how little accountability exists if a landlord or evacuation team makes such a catastrophic mistake. I ask for an account, support in the community and the opportunity to rebuild my life for my children.”

The police referred to the incident as a break -in, but no official suspects were identified.
