Occupancy of Phase 1 of the Residences at Central Park is now well underway as the first residents have begun moving into the completed 31-story tower within Amexon Development Corporation’s 12-acre master-planned community at Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East in North York. The project, designed by Core Architects, proposes five residential buildings ranging from 12 to 31 stories on the eastern edge of the Bayview Village area. The site sits in a natural setting above the banks of the forested gorge of the East Don River, yet is within walking distance of the Leslie Station on the Sheppard Line 4.
The completed 31-story Phase 1 tower faces northeast at dusk and features continuous bands of balconies enclosing each floor plate. Their glass guards feature a subtle, organic willow leaf pattern that softens the rectilinear massing while referencing the adjacent canyon landscape. The tower’s corner glazing features illuminated suites and hallway lighting, creating a stacked lantern effect through the facade. At the top, the mechanical penthouse is surrounded by darker cladding, which acts as a clear finish to the composition.

The south facade of the six-story podium is fully molded and clad and features prefabricated panels framing the balconies. Stacked terraces are defined by projecting panel edges and glass railings, with a setback above the podium that transitions to the tower. Vertical glazing strips on the left dissolve into a continuous transparent back, while the ground floor is structured by darker louvered panels and glazing.

Inside, the spacious Phase 1 lobby reflects the project’s amenity-focused podium design with high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glazing overlooking the canyon. Warm wood-paneled arches form an interior colonnade and frame seating areas set on polished stone floors. The glazing system maximizes natural light and visual connection to the East Don River Valley beyond, while recessed lighting in suspended ceiling levels provides even illumination throughout the space.

Future phases will include one 19-story and two 31-story towers rising from a shared podium, approximately 35,000 square feet of retail and additional recreational space, and a 12-story building at the north end of the site. At each stand there will be a continuous underground car park with charging options for electric vehicles. Once fully expanded, the community will build 1,478 residential units in all buildings. These phases will also complete the Central Park Common, a three-acre landscaped open space with a central lawn, wood seating, a trellis pavilion and pedestrian promenades, as well as a direct stair connection to the East Don Gorge supported by slope stabilization and riprap reinforcement.
