Oro’s Podium Rises as Edge Towers Stand Complete in Mississauga

Nearly a year after UrbanToronto's last update for the Edge Towers site in Mississauga in December 2024, the first two buildings are now completed at 35 and 40 floors, while Oro, its third and tallest phase at 50 floors, is now well above grade. Designed by Rosario “Roy” Varacalli together with Cusimano Architect for Solmar Development Corp. The buildings designed are located between the future Fairview and Burnhamthorpe stops of the Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT in Mississauga.

In September 2025, this view looking south across the intersection of Hurontario Street and Elm Drive shows Oro's podium structure spreading across the full width of the site, with the concrete frame standing at six floors and work underway on the seventh floor slab. Formwork and recently poured concrete columns and walls are visible at the north end of the seventh floor. Two cranes can be seen, the second was installed in March 2025. Edge 1 and Edge 2 are at the back on the right, completed.

Across Hurontario Street in October 2025, freshly removed decking is seen exposing the fresh ceiling, while wraparound side formwork outlines the impending seventh floor stepback, framed by formwork. Support posts line the lower levels. Installation of white cladding panels has begun below. Edge 2 rises behind it, the 40-story tower stands in the middle of the trio.

Looking east across Elm Drive West, you can see clear cladding progress on Oro's lower podium. The prefabricated paneling, consistent with that of Edge 1 and Edge 2, is now installed on most of the first five levels of the podium. At the top, the structure transitions into the stepped tower levels currently under construction.

Looking south across the site this month, the base plate for the eighth floor slab is in place and the formwork for the ninth floor is in place above. The white concrete boom pump is on the right side of the frame. At the Elm Drive West elevation, the construction elevator travels through the recessed central bay, flanked by two podium sections where the white precast cladding has risen three stories on the left and five stories on the right.

Seen from the other side of the Hurontario Strait, Oro's podium advances along the Hurontario Ridge with a mostly even paneling, with only the corner on the left still waiting to be enclosed. The southeast end shows the larger stepback where the seven-story volume takes shape before the podium transitions back toward the slimmer tower floors that are planned to rise closer to Elm Drive West. Two cranes are responsible for construction: the furthest crane on the footprint of the 50-story tower and the closer crane dedicated to the 12-story mid-rise component.

Once completed, Oro will deliver 614 condominiums.
