Over 8,000 people believe that Tory Lanez is exactly where he belongs.
A petition of Change.org built by Jahad Carter with the title “Ten years in Tory Lanez 'imprisonment and deported him after” accumulated more than 8,600 signatures on May 21.
The petition reacts to Lanez's 10-year sentence for the shooting of rapper Megan Tee Hengst 2020 and, when it is released, demands both an extension of his prison sentence and his deportation to Canada. The petents argue that Lanez has to be fully held accountable and claim that this is of crucial importance for the protection and respect of black women.
Lanez, born in Daystar Peterson, was convicted of three crimes in connection with the incident in December 2022 and convicted in August 2023. He is currently serving his term at the California correctional facility in Tehachapi. As a non-state member with a conviction of crimes, Lanez is subject to the US immigration law after completing his prison sentence.
The petition also seems to be a direct answer to online speculations that are driven by reports on new claims in the case. This includes the allegations that a nameless former bodyguard of Megan's ex-best friend, Kelsey Harris, has been watching the weapon. The Lanez lawyer, Walter Roberts, has strengthened these claims.
“[Harris] fired on [Megan] three times. Mr. Peterson grabbed her arm and hit him down and the weapon fired again twice. Essentially, Mr. Peterson did not shot anyone. I never touched her. He never fired the gun. This explanation matches the explanation of the only impartial witness of the case, Mr. Sean Kelly, who said in court that he fought two women. “
Despite the claims, the so -called new evidence was not submitted to any court and remains legally classified as hearsay. Alex Spiro, Meghan Thee Hengstanwalt, spoke out about the judicial process. Spiro admitted an explanation XXL magazine, repeated that Lanez received a fair procedure and is responsible for the law for the violence for which he was convicted.
“Tory Lanez was brought to trial by a jury, and his case was properly decided on the court system. This is not a political matter – this is a case of a violent attack that was enclosed before the Court of Justice,” was the declaration of New York right.
Nevertheless, some supporters have taken the information about the nominal value and used it to request the publication of Lanez. Conversely, the growing support of the petition indicates that many in public remain ambivalent to these developments and continue to demand an account.
