FHFA director Bill Pulte via FEDS Lisa Cook: I will not reveal where the mortgage fraud tip comes from

Bill Pult, President Donald Trump's Housing Finance boss, repeatedly rejected on Thursday to give details about where he got the “tip”, which prompted him to accuse the governor of the Federal Reserve Lisa Cook of mortgage fraud.

“I will not explain our sources and methods where we get tips that are whistleblowers,” said Pulte in CNBCS “Squawk Box”.

“It would be ruthless to do that,” he said.

This rejection came, after Andrew Ross Sorkin from CNBC found that Pultes Targeting from Cook – creates the perception of “political weapons” in several criminal transfers to the Ministry of Justice and in a stream of aggressive social media posts.

“For example, if the tip comes from the administration or also comes from your agency, with someone who works for you … then it creates the problem of perception,” said Sorkin, adding that the tipper of the tipper could help explain his actions.

But Pulte was bursting with the question.

“I don't need you to help myself explain things, Andrew,” he replied.

Bill Pult, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, spoke on September 4, 2025 in the Squawk Box from CNBC.

When he was asked again later in the interview about the source of the tip, Pulte said: “I think we are worried about the wrong thing. There is a suspected crime here. Why don't we talk about the crime? Why do we accuse the investigators?”

Trump changed from the Fed Board of Governor to shoot Koch from the governors' board member to bring about the allegations raised by Pulte, which are currently being investigated by the Ministry of Justice. Pult has accused Cook of claiming several properties as the main residence.

Trump has relentlessly asked the central bank and its chairman Jerome Powell to reduce interest rates, and he predicted that he will soon have a “majority” on the Fed board, which is correct about these interest rates.

Cook has refused to have ever committed mortgage fraud. She sued Trump to shoot her.

Pulto, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, denied CNBC that his actions against Cook are politically motivated.

“We make recommendations almost every day. Lisa Cook happened to be one of them,” he said.

Cook, however, treated Cook far differently than others who aimed at the FHFA for possible violations of mortgages. Since he revealed his allegations, he has sent dozens of social media posts in which both Cook and Powell are criticized, which should also be released by Trump.

And when Sorkin asked whether Ken also looked at Ken Paxton, the Republican General Prosecutor of Texas, who reported three properties as the main residence, said Pulte, he would not comment on it.

“If things are published and, or, if we decide to make them public, I will talk about it,” he said.

The interview took place less than two hours before a press conference via Cook outside the Federal Court in Washington, DC, was to stop

But Pulte abruptly canceled this press on Wednesday afternoon and said in an X contribution that the “out of respect for the process” did.

In the interview on Thursday, he said: “I don't want to say why I really did it.
