Work at The Point in Hamilton's Westdale district is progressing rapidly: the mid-rise building is currently reaching its full six floors and is nearing completion just three months after construction began. Designed by Lintack Architects for Yoke Group, the mixed-use rental building takes its name from nearby Princess Point, a natural area on the south shore of Cootes Paradise.
In 2018, Urban Solutions first announced plans for a new building on the King Street West site as a functional student residence. However, after Yoke Group acquired the site, the proposal was revised to its current form. Demolition of the one-story building on the site occurred in September 2025 and a crane was erected for the new building at the end of the month. Since the floor was built without excavating the basement, the ceiling formwork progressed quickly.

A little over six weeks later, in mid-November 2025, looking northeast across the intersection of King Street and Paradise Road. The Point had already risen to five floors, with deck formwork and edge protection for the sixth floor concrete pour. A recessed notch on the southwest corner adds variety to the mass. Rows of blue support posts support the ongoing curing of panels on levels two through five, while perimeter guardrails mark the edges of each floor. On the slope, the site is enclosed by temporary fences, with materials spread out along the walkway.

Looking north across King Street West six days later, the sixth floor ceiling is mostly poured and formwork for the roof slab is already progressing. The south facade extends across the block and is divided by three vertical stacks of projecting balcony panels. At street level, the ground floor remains open within the column grid, where future retail areas are defined by extensive glazing framed by gray brick pillars.

Looking east across Paradise Road, two more notches can be seen in the northwest corner. The north facade also has cantilevered balcony panels on several levels. On the right, the decking is visible from the fifth floor to roof level. Along the north side of the site, the crane rises independently of the building footprint. Below, tall reinforced concrete columns support the elevated ground floor.

Exterior wall installations are now taking shape along the second floor this month, faintly visible below in the overnight snow, marking the early stages of the cladding installation that will define the first four floors of red brick. Window wall glazing will be installed for levels two to four, comprising a mix of full balconies and French balconies with glass balcony guards. Meanwhile, the roof panel is being formed, signaling the start of work on the mechanical penthouse.

When completed, The Point will stand 62 feet tall and offer 68 market-rate rental units.
