In addition to the 38 full weekend closures the TTC has planned for repairs in 2025, surface commuters will also have to look forward to some less-than-optimal service adjustments this year.
In the Commission's recently published review of network closures and diversions in 2024 and forecast for 2025/2026, it recommends a total of 24 full tram diversions, mainly due to necessary repair work and, to a lesser extent, completion of infrastructure improvements.
Affected are the 501 Queen (three full detours), 504 King (four detours), 505 Dundas (three), 506 Carlton (eight), 507 Long Branch (one), 509 Harbourfront (four) and 510 Spadina (one).
A cover sheet for Monday's TTC board meeting calls for 24 full diversions and 77 nighttime diversions on a handful of Toronto streetcar routes.
Alongside these changes, rail riders will also face a whopping 77 nighttime diversions, with five major projects impacting the city's tram system.
This construction is on College Street and McCaul Street, King Street and Dufferin Street, Bathurst Street and Fleet Street, King Street and Church Street, and Queen Street East between the famous De Grassi Street and Broadview Avenue in progress.
The TTC board will consider the report at its next meeting on January 27 and is expected to approve the detours described.
