Jesse Lee Peterson is under fire after telling a former NFL player he “talks like a white guy.”

Controversial online personality Jesse Lee Peterson is facing renewed backlash after asking former NFL player George Wrighster III why he “speaks like a white man.”

Wrightster appeared on the Jan. 10 episode of Peterson’s podcast “The Fallen State” to discuss his transition from the NFL to media and the personal development that followed. The wide-ranging, hour-long conversation centered around sports, culture and identity, with Peterson bringing his trademark controversy throughout.

There were points where Peterson questioned Wrightster about seeing a therapist, criticized men who showed vulnerability with women, and even took a swipe at Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, calling her “Jasmine Crooked.”

A clip now circulating online highlights one of the interview’s most awkward moments, in which Peterson praises Wrightster for speaking “like a white man.”

“You speak very well and you are black. How did this happen?” Peterson asks in the clip shared online.

A visibly stunned Wrightster expressed his confusion and asked Peterson what he meant by the question.

“You speak well. You speak like a white man. How did this happen?” Peterson asked. “How do I speak like a white person? All fine and proper, and you can understand each other. You use the right words, and how did that happen?”

Peterson redoubled his pressure, telling a visibly confused Wrighster that speaking “like a white man” was a good thing. Wrighster fired back with sarcasm, explaining why he thought he spoke “like a black man,” but Peterson quickly interrupted with “No.”

“Oh, I don’t speak like a black man? Black men are well-read. We go to college. We take care of our kids. We pay our taxes. We fulfill our responsibilities. So I don’t know how that knows. I know that black men do that. I know that,” Wrighster said.

Peterson then went a step further and asked Wrightster, “What’s wrong with the Blacks?”

The exchange sparked intense backlash online, with many criticizing Peterson for what they saw as repeated jabs at the black community during his interviews.

“Jesse Lee Peterson has to be one of the most deeply distracted morons in all of viral media,” one X user wrote. “Not only is he himself always quite boring, but he also sounds of low intelligence, accompanied by a very feminine lisp.”

Another user expressed his opinion on the topic of black people being told to “talk white.”

“Unfortunately, many black people think as ignorantly as this man,” the user wrote. “They call it code-switching, but actually it should be normal to speak properly as a black person and not hear that you sound white when you speak proper English.”
