Former Vice President Kamala Harris wanted transport secretary Pete Buttigieg during her 2024 run for the White House, but rejected the agreement because it was too risky.
The Atlantic reported on this news from her highly awaited book on Wednesday. The book will be published on September 23.
Harris writes that Pete Buttigieg would have been “an ideal partner – if I were a straight white man.
“But we have already asked a lot of America: a woman, a black woman, a black woman who is married to a Jewish man,” Harris writes. “Some of me wanted to say:” Fuck, just let us do it. “But knowing what was at stake was too much risk.
“And I think Pete knew that too – to our mutual sadness.”
Who is Pete Buttigieg?
Buttigieg entered the spotlight in early 2019 when he announced his candidacy to become the democratic candidate for the 2020 presidential election.
It was a risky step for the then mayor of South Bend, Indiana. He entered a pool of more than 20 democratic hopes of hope, which included the Senators Harris, Cory Booker (D-NJ), Elizabeth Warren (D-Ma) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
