Pharrell increases his passion for Virginia with the start of his new creative platform.
Pharrell Williams proudly represents his roots in Virginia with the introduction of a new creative platform, which is named after his hometown.
On August 14, the multihyphenate presented a new creative community platform called Virginia, reports Hypebeast. The platform is described as “a goal in which music, fashion, design and community converge”, and shows Pharrell's upcoming live events, were in limited task, new music, early access to collaborations and much more.
“Virginia is where I come, but it is also the one that I am creative,” said Pharrell in an explanation. “It is my space for dreaming and a way to connect with people who also dream.”
The platform acts both as a creative playground and as a personal homage to Pharrell's home state and offers experiments, storytelling and direct engagement. The start is organized on Blackyachtrock.com and includes a mural by Virginia Beach artist Sam Clayman and includes a virtual karaoke game. It also offers a complete series of goods in a limited edition with clothing, accessories and beach equipment, all of which are covered with the Virginia logo.
Sneakerheads also get the option of buying a few brand new Virginia Adistar jellyfish, Pharrell's latest design for Adidas before it will be started globally later this month.
On the music front, the platform with Black Yacht Rock Vol 1: City of Limitless Access, an album published anonymously in 2024, debut the first musical project under the Banner of Virginia. According to the website, the record shows the “Black Yacht Rock” of the artist, a sound that was created “by the lens of black musicality and personal memory”.
The Virginia platform is the latest offer in Pharrell's extensive range of creative activities. As Creative Director of Louis Vuitton's Menswear, he also receives recognition that he has made Clipse's Let God Sort em Out, who debut in 4th place on the Billboard 200, her highest chart debut. The album also reached the vinyl album chart and reached number 2 in the top rap album charts.
Apart from music, Pharrell continues to support underrepresented entrepreneurs with his annual Black Ambition Grant program. His animated LEGO Biopic, who records his trip from Virginia Beach to Music Mogul, is now streaming on Netflix.
