The peaceful protests and events took place on streets, courts and other public spaces in cities in the USA, including cities that were targeted by Trump ice attacks such as Atlanta and St. Louis, Missouri. With a coalition of non-profit organizations such as the public citizen, Co-President Lisa Gilbert, the country's symptoms on a national day of action became necessary in view of the state of the political climate. “We navigate one of the most terrible moments in the history of our nation,” said Gilbert.

“We all dealt with an increase in authoritarianism and lawlessness in our administration … as rights, freedoms and expectations of our very democracy.”

Lewis, the youngest and last survivor of the six Big Civil Rights activists – a group of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. – died in 2020 after a fight against pancreas. The efforts of King and Lewis led to the then President Lyndon Johnson, who urged the congress to say goodbye to the Voting Rights Act in 1965, just a few days after Lewis and 600 demonstrators were beaten by the police, while he crossed Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, a day that was known today as Bloody on Sunday.

Before his death, Lewis was able to remind 1965 voting rights marches. “Make yourself in good difficulties, necessary difficulties and redeem the soul of America,” said Lewis.

The great civil rights activist and representative John Lewis died 5 years ago today. Today, let's honor and remember him. Let us recommend getting “good difficulties”. To get up what is right. To speak out against hate. To fight for what matters. To… pic.twitter.com/dua7difr6f

The “good difficulties” protests are added to the growing protests across the country in the middle of Trump's politics. At the beginning of July 2025, the law enforcement authorities and demonstrators of the federal government organized a tense patient situation due to a chaotic raid and arrests of immigrants on two South California Marijuana farms, which caused an agricultural worker to die after a greenhouse roof.

As demonstrators Trump as a dictator and wannabe king for the birthday with a military parade, “No Kings” demonstrations started protests with millions of people who marched in cities such as New York and Charlotte. Thousands of people took over the streets of Los Angeles in early June 2025 after Trump sent the national guard against her because she had taken an attitude against illegal deportations.

Members of the congress like Rep. Raphael Warnock went on social media to remember their legendary colleagues.
