The Capitol Tops Off with Theatre Facade Heritage Restoration Underway

The Capitol was designed by Turner Fleischer Architects for Madison Group and Westdale Properties and restored the Capitol Theater facade built in 1914 in Midtown Toronto, with the cultural work accompanied by GBCA architects. Since the last update of urbantoronto in October 2024, the 15-story tower has expired with the mined crane.

In November 2024, the L-shaped massing was on 10 floors. The Yonge Street Frontage shows the two-story heritage facade preserved, which is now free of equipment. The entry on the third floor founded above to accommodate terraces on the third floor. On the upper levels of the podium, green weather protection is installed between the second and fourth floor.

The tower had reached 14 floors by January 2025 and the plate on the 15th floor had been poured. The western survey shows successive steps on the seventh floor on the north side and changes from adjacent low risks. A construction high is assembled in the middle, while a red concrete drilling pump is positioned south of the crane. The green weather securing extends to the eighth floor, which is interspersed with newly installed glazing and gray spandrel panels.

The concrete boom pump was in operation in March 2025. Along the north wall, the outer stucco finish was applied to the first six floors, whereby it passed to a painted glazing. The Heritage Frontage is wrapped in a green network, while the recovery of the masonry behind the after -school ceremony on the sidewalk. The window wall systems from the third to sixth floor are available in the east -height. The glazing installation extends at least the ninth floor in the northern height.

In April 2025 close-up within the L-shaped footprint, the north and west heights show active enclosures that are removed from the Yonge Street front distance. On the podium levels, insulation fields are attached to the concrete structure between the floors two and four. The installed window wall assemblies have dark aluminum loops and Louvres, which extend up to the 12th floor. The massive concrete components of the podium climb to the sixth floor before he gave way to slimmer projecting balcony plates.

This month, the Capitol with the concrete structure for the mechanical penthouse is complete, while the insulation plates are available to the top level of the tower. The facade combines light brown and darker base stone that prefabricated the cladding over the lower eight floors. Balcony alternate between clear glass and frying patterns, while dark gray metal panels complete the mechanical penthouse. The Heritage Wall in the class waiting for the restoration of masonry and the reinstatement of the historical marquee of the Capitol Theater.

From an aviation geared to the west in August 2025, the Capitol shows its striking ciggurate massage, whereby the building is now being removed in successive steps and the crane is now being removed. In the degree on the right there are large openings for the arched entrance and ceramic frit glazing for the pedestrian colonnade. The shape of terraces occurs at several points above the podium and passes to slimmer balcony plates on the upper floors. The glazing is installed up to the top level, while bundle of disguise materials are staged on the upper terraces.

The Capitol is 60.35 m and houses 163 residential units.
