Given recent results, it’s hard to argue that these two neighbors aren’t the top two teams in the North American region: USA won the Nations League and Gold Cup and advanced to the World Cup Round of 16, while Canada topped regional qualifiers, thus achieving he won the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

The two countries, along with Mexico, are hosting the upcoming 2026 World Cup and both will be keen to continue building momentum for this tournament, where they will be under pressure to make a memorable showing on home soil.

The Nations League win will also help set the tone for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament, which begins next weekend. Another showdown in the final rounds of this competition is likely.

Lineups USA vs. Canada

The biggest story surrounding the lineups is the absence of two starters in Weston McKennie and Sergino Dest after they were shown red cards in the semi-finals against Mexico. Both played for the Americans in this semi-final and their absence will be felt.
